On March 17, 2017, Kenbridge and VDOT celebrated the ribbon cutting of the newly constructed I-95 Safety Rest Area in Greensville County. This was a $5 million replacement of the former building. The project was completed nearly 2 months early and under budget.
Kenbridge erects three new entrance signs
Several of Kenbridge’s long-desired and much-discussed town entrance signs have finally been erected.
The signs were erected Tuesday, Aug. 30, Mayor Emory Hodges said.
The three signs were purchased in last year’s budget after several citizens had expressed concerns about the condition of the old signs.
Kenbridge Construction donated the installation of the signs to the town.
“The replacement of our signs was past overdue and we are excited about the new signs,” Hodges said in a statement.
Hodges said he is “especially excited” about the new logo, which depicts the three stages of a tobacco leaf from field to cured representing Kenbridge’s “rich heritage of being a tobacco town.”
The signs are reflective and will be very visible at night, he said.
“We have plans in our current budget to add a fourth sign along the South Broad entrance to Kenbridge on the Merle and Thelma Adkins property,” Hodges said. “Mr. Adkins has been very supportive of this effort and we thank him. Also, Mrs. Rita Parsons should be thanked for making a request of the mayor to replace the dilapidated signs.”

Changes on Larry Clary Field!
The bleachers were moved to the opposite side of the football field this summer. Mr. Jenkins designed the new look for the field, and Kenbridge Construction took action. Kenston’s home side will now be in front of the fieldhouse. The concessions, spirit wear, bathrooms, and dinner will all be available on the same side of the field. There are many new memories to be made on the new bleachers!
